Waihi Rugby Club - Supporting Brad & Claire

Brad & Claire have been part of our rugby club for a long time. Both of them are more than willing to help anyone. Now its our turn to support them as together they fight bowel Cancer.

While they were enjoying life and planning for their wedding both of them were blindsided in April by the news that the previously healthy Claire (32) has bowel cancer.

On the 10/4/19 Claire underwent her first operation which removed 25cm of bowel infected with a large cancer tumor and a further 16 nodes which also contained cancer.

Due to further complications, Claire was readmitted to hospital where a scan has revealed that the cancer has spread to the peritoneum lining and is growing rapidly.

The Chemo process has been fast tracked and will help with Claire's treatment as well as a cocktail of other drugs including Cetuximab which is unfortunately unfunded. Claire's long term prognosis with the treatment is currently 2 years.

While the situation is currently very fluid, the costs are already starting to mount with treatment alone estimated to be $50-70,000 a figure that doesn't take into account any of the incidentals costs.

Our aim is to support both of these amazing club people who are going through an incredibly tough time in any way possible. Every little donation counts.
