SAMUEL (10) braving the shave to raise money to help Andrea Balona beat cancer!
Nationwide
SAMUEL (age 10) is braving the shave in solidarity with his Aunty Awesome.
Earlier this year Samuel's Aunt, Andrea Balona was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Being in her early 40's and a mother, with 3 kids of school ages, it's a sobering and petrifying time. Though she puts on the bravest of faces.
When she got the diagnosis and treatment plan it was seriously scary:
- Partial mastectomy.
- 3 months of chemo
- 6 weeks of radiation
- 5 years of hormone treatment
The masectomy went well and doctors were pleased with the outcome, but having started chemo this month, like all cancer patients, she started to lose her hair. Taking the bull by the horns and in her usual positive style, Andrea decided to shave it all off, making her experience public.
Samuel (10) watched his Aunty's video and was really moved, so in solidarity with Andrea declared he was going to shave his head too, but asked if he could raise money for his Aunt.
As you are no doubt aware cancer does not just cost lives but can put unexpected financial strain on a family, paying for additional costs like transport, accommodation, childcare etc., at a time when its the last thing they should be worrying about.
During the radiotherapy Andrea will have to live in a different town, for the duration of treatment, being away from her family and support network.
Those that know Andrea, know she goes out of her way to help anyone who needs it, always putting herself last, but this time she could do with a bit of help. So we're asking friends and family to help by sponsoring Samuel's Head Shave, on 26th May.
EVERY LITTLE HELPS and This Cancer CAN be beaten.
I am Andrea's sister who lives in the UK and my Son, Andrea's nephew asked to help raise money for her cancer treatment by braving the shave.
All money will be going directly to support Andrea and the Balona family.
