Support Hokioramai to remain at boarding school to fulfill his dreams and break the cycle of abuse within his whanau.
Auckland
Hokioramai is the 8th of 10 children, he is the youngest son. Hokioramai has been exposed to family violence for the first 8 years of his life between his father and myself and his father and his older siblings. His father made some changes and things improved for a while.
In 2019 Hokioramai's father assaulted number 7 son and is in prison serving time so is unable to give any financial assistance. All of Hokioramai's siblings have issues because of the trauma suffered.
Hokioramai attends Mt. Albert Grammar School in Auckland as a boarder, We have secured a scholarship to cover half of his boarding fees but unless we get support towards the rest of his boarding and school expenses then he may have to withdraw from the school.
Hokioramai is a very humble, young man well-liked by his peers and teachers, he has a lot of potential. His goal is to become an All Black and represent his country at the highest level possible in his chosen sport (one of the reasons we want him to attend Mt. Albert Grammar).
I have never done anything like this before but I want my son to have every opportunity to achieve his dreams and to break the cycle of abuse within his whakapapa. He is a wonderful son, brother and friend, I don't want his chance to be all he can be marred by his father's actions and behaviour.
Hokioramai is the first sibling to go to boarding school. Hokioramai has always done well at school and has won an award every year of his school life, starting with winning the school speech competition when he was 5 years old, as well as winning sports awards in his chosen codes.
As a Year 9 (first year at high school) boarder at Mt. Albert Grammar he has excelled and I am so proud of him and his achievements in 2019.

Thank you to those who have made a donation, it has been a big help towards Hokioramai's schooling.
Hokioramai is busy practicing for kapahaka, he has made it into the front row for the haka. With the Covid 19 precautions in place rugby is on hold and kapa haka won't be performed in front of an audience. He is doing well at school and is now over 6 feet tall needing a size 12 shoe.
We still need more donations. These are challenging times, keep safe out there. I'll post on the other side of the virus.
Thank you 💜💜
