Ana's melanoma Journey - fighting cancer for her kids
Gisborne
My beautiful and kick ass sister Ana has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. After a melanoma was removed in 2020, and we were hopeful that was the end of her journey, routine surveillance has revealed the cancer has spread to her lungs. She is 40 years old, with a loving husband and has two young children 7 and 13 years.
Ana has spent the past decade giving so much to her community as a registered nurse, midwife and more recently a clinical nurse specialist working in cancer care. She has changed the life of so many for the better, supporting others though their cancer treatment. Its now our turn to wrap her in the biggest supportive hug possible.
Ana has been given the fortunate chance to participate in clinical trials over in Australia to help give her the best chance at fighting this horrific disease. She has the daunting task of leaving her family/friends support network here in NZ to undertake this journey, I want to help ease her financial burden and stress by covering as much of these costs so she can focus on beating this. Any support, big or small is so appreciated. We love you all and thankyou from the bottom of our hearts.
Ana is my sister, my bestie, my soul mate! 🌻 💛

Feeling strong 12 September 2022
Hey team,
Ana's treatment is going really well & she is feeling positive. 6 rounds of drugs down, she was having nasty side effects from treatment & her oncologist wasn't sure if she could continue - further tests showed that the inflammation has settled & she can continue on her treatment plan. We are excited that she has been granted permission to fly home to Gizzy for a visit - she will be home from 22nd Sept to the 10th October if anyone wants to catch up. Thank you for your continued support & good vibes xx
