Wellington
The Wellington Chinese Garden Society Inc. is tasked with the raising of funds for the construction of a "Chinese Garden" on the capital's waterfront in Frank Kitts Park.
The Garden honours the long history of Chinese in Wellington and New Zealand's multi-cultural society. The garden will be an added attraction to New Zealanders and overseas visitors to the popular walk along the water front and will complement the existing play area and green spaces.
The project will be managed by the Wellington City Council and has secured significant support from its sister city relationship with Xiamen and Beijing in China. The project was endorsed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the then Prime Minister John Key who witnessed the signing of the agreement between the mayors of Xiamen and Wellington.
The cost of the gardens is estimated to be $6,500,000. The Wellington Chinese Garden Society is tasked with raising $1,000,000. We invite you to donate now, so we are able to begin construction.
