Clarence St Theatre - COVID 19 loss of revenue

$1,825 of $125,000 goal
Given by 34 generous donors in around 6 months

Clarence St Theatre has been significantly impacted by by Covid 19 decimating its programme and hence revenue for 2020/21.

Waikato

Clarence St Theatre has been growing and developing its audiences for almost five years bringing quality national and international product to to the stage and supporting local and community productions.

COVID 19 has decimated our ability to generate income through hires and events not only due to travel restrictions but also the limiting of gatherings.

Artists and arts organisations are often at the forefront of efforts to raise funds for and rebuild communities following natural disasters, such as the Australian bushfires, terror attacks and earthquakes. And as many of us face the need to be quarantined to slow the spread of COVID-19 over the coming weeks and months, the arts will be what keep us sane during periods of isolation.

Artists and arts organisations are again playing their role in connecting with people in their homes: some of the world’s best-known musicians are streaming mini-concerts from their living rooms (#TogetherAtHome) while New Zealand artists are doing something similar (such as Centrepoint Theatre's 24 hour Challenge http://centrepoint.co.nz/centrepoint24 . Larger organisations such as the Royal New Zealand Ballet and The National Theatre in the UK are live streaming concerts, plays and musicals.

Given this generosity, we hope that the broader community can support our arts community and ourselves, which is being significantly affected by government requirements to not hold mass gatherings and the subsequent closure of most sources of income for venues, artists and their support crews.
