Celia Lashlie Projects is determined to support those who work and live to make positive change for women and families.

Nationwide

At the time of Celia Lashlie’s sudden death in February, a special Givealittle page was set up to honour her work and to give people the opportunity to support the projects close to Celia's heart.

Celia Lashlie Projects, a small voluntary group of Celia's family and friends, is working hard to create resources from the huge body of Celia’s written and recorded material in order to inspire and support those people working to create change for families, mothers, children and young people in this country.

Thanks to the generosity of New Zealanders who gave to the first Givealittle appeal, we have been able to start this vital work. In particular, we have used some of those funds to support the NZ Portrait Gallery’s commission of a portrait of Celia as their next great New Zealander. We have also funded some initial research, transcribing and editing of Celia’s final interview, recorded just two days before she passed away. In this frank and moving conversation, Celia shared over the course of two hours, the priorities and the work that she so desperately wanted to see realised that would make a difference to the lives of so many families here in New Zealand and throughout the world.

Celia Lashlie Projects has had the following strands of work as priorities since February:

* The 10th Anniversary Edition of Celia’s best-selling book He’ll Be Ok – Growing Gorgeous Boys Into Good Men

* The NZ Portrait Gallery commission of a portrait of Celia Lashlie

* A Celia Lashlie Seminar at Victoria University, to be held in February 2016 (date TBC), organised and supported by Kim Workman and the Stout Centre

* A documentary about Celia’s work based on her final interview with Amanda Millar two days before her death. This documentary is a long-term project intended for cinematic and international release.

* An interactive website providing access to Celia’s stories and advice – for people needing support and for those who are working to make change in our communities.

Celia said she wanted to bring about societal change through working with women, and particularly to improve the lives being led by women at the heart of at risk families. Celia Lashlie Projects is determined to support those who work and live to make positive change for women and families. We hope you will support this work too.

Thank you  1 December 2015

Thank you to all of you for donating to Celia Lashlie Projects. We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of people.

We will be using these funds in the next wee while in a way that will maximise how we might keep Mum's messages alive. Updates will largely be done via our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/celialashlie/) and our website (www.celialashlie.nz) once we are able to get a better place on it for doing quick and accessible updates.

As you will know, one of the things that the Givealittle pool of funds has contributed to is a portrait for the NZ Portrait Gallery. This will be a portrait with a difference (it will be unveiled on Sunday - 2pm at NZ Portrait Gallery in Wellington - ALL WELCOME) and will be a key mechanism to keep Mum's messages and vision alive.

Thank you once again and please get in touch if you have any questions for me.

Kind regards

Beks (Celia's daughter)

Hi my name is Lily, I'm from Sydney, Australia. I read Celia's book "He'll be Ok" some years back and it's a book which is still helping me today. I am incredibly saddened by her too early passing, and regret not having written her a letter of gratitude. This is my way of saying thanks today. Blessings. L
