I wanted to do something to help Mum and Cooper. And hopefully take some stress off her over the time she's off work during Coopers surgery and healing.
As of 7 weeks ago, mum found a lump in Coopers face. Doctors then sent him for an x ray and CT's the next day. With a biopsy surgery done by cutting across the top of his gums/mouth and into cheek. Results found the tumour he has is an Odontogenic Myxoma in his Sinus Maxilla. It is a rare benign tumour that has a tendency for bone destruction, invasion into surrounding structures, and a relatively high recurrence rate. It is extremely rare in adults and exceptionally rare in infants. His specialist said he is the only one known in New Zealand to have ever had this!
His surgery will be within the next 10 days, as this aggressive tumour needs to be removed as soon as possible. Instead of removing any facial bone as he is so little, his surgeon will try to remove the tumour through the pink part of his eye, nasal cavity, and re open the stitches he has in his gums/mouth and cheek.
While bone is exposed they will apply Carnoy's Solution that promotes a superficial chemical necrosis and is intended to reduce recurrence rates.

Oh my gosh!! We don't know what to say the word THANKYOU doesn't seem big enough or describe how thankful and grateful we are to have ALL OF YOU in our life. We are absolutely blown away. We had kept it quite quiet but The page brokie kindly set up made it public but wow! She set it with a limit enough that it would help out but it's exceeded beyond that so now there will be funds toward future teeth!!! We are just so so grateful for all the help kindness and love ❤️ you are all amazing. I woke up couldn't sleep and re read over All of your wishes and love these are the biggest silver lining ever!!! Use of funds
All funds raised will go towards helping with hospital stay, travel to and from Maxillofacial Waikato Hospital, and house hold bills while cooper is healing as mum will be off work.
Any left over funds will be put away for Cooper as he will likely need prosthetic teeth and facial re construction surgery.

Thank you all again so much, for your messages and donations.
Coop has had his surgery and is still in hospital having steroids antibiotics pain relief. It was a bit more extensive than they thought. But went well! His surgeon is sure he got it all of the tumour, it was deeper than realised so needed to remove quite a bit of facial bone and a piece of his main nerve and tissue along with the tumour. No adult teeth were left in there so possibly the tumour has corroded them as it did with his bone. Outcome for teeth his nerve and face caving were bone is removed are all up in the air as there aren't other cases to guide by as it's so rare, only 20 cases worldwide mostly adults and no cases at all in nz. He's pretty special!! So for now we wait and see and hope for the best. He will be closely monitored with MRI CT Scans ect and visits with his wonderful surgeon over the next 5 years.
He had a visit from me yesterday, and it was so good to hear him laugh. He is up and about at times very swollen and bruised. When he’s awake full on as usual and on the recovery road. Very tough little man!
