Auckland

My name is Kadie and I am a 6 year old Bullmastiff that has been diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma. It is treatable with chemotherapy and I need your help.

I need your help not only for me but for my human parents Juls and Lesa.

I was lucky enough to come into this family when I was 2 years old after I was rehomed and requiring alot of loving and nurturing. From that moment I have never looked back.

I have a loving happy home, my own kennel (which I hardly ever use as I get to hang out inside mum and dad’s house almost all of the time) a fenced yard and my own super sized large beanbag. I sleep inside every night which is cool when its raining. My three mates are Jack, Grace and Max (these are my mum and dad’s kids) and I spend lots of time with them playing ball, tug o war and walking.

However a week ago mum noticed I was sad and feeling out of sorts and she noticed that all my glands were swollen and I that I wasn’t eating as much and losing weight. I was also coughing and not breathing very well.

My mum immediately took me to the Vets where they gave me a blood test from my lymph gland.

The next day my mum got the result from the laboratory to say I had Lymphoma. I remember mum crying and wondered why she was so upset.

The following day mum took me to the Vets for a biopsy. Luckily my foster dad Shawn also came along for support that day as my dad was away at school camp with Jack. I was very nervous but lay very still on the table so they could do the biopsy.

I came home later that morning and was feeling tired. My leg was very sore as I had stitches. I was given medication for the pain and had a long sleep.

A couple of days later we received the results from the biopsy which confirmed that I had Lymphoma. The following day I was taken to meet Christie from Veterinary Associates. She had a long talk with mum about my chances and what treatment I could be given.

The good news that came out of the biopsy results is that I have B-cell lymphoma and not T-cell lymphoma which is much more aggressive and lesser chance of survival. The results also show that my lymphoma has been diagnosed in the relatively early stages. The fact I have B-cell lymphoma means that with the treatment of chemo I still have a chance of leading a long healthy life and potentially going into remission.

When dad got home from camp, both mum and dad talked about the situation and made the decision to go ahead with the treatment.

What I’m asking for is help, not only for me, but for my parents Juls and Lesa. They are the most loving parents a nice big dog like me could hope for.

Because I don’t have medical insurance and mum and dad have three children, it is alot of money for them to raise.

I am hoping that some helpful people will give a little towards my treatment. I’m not ready to leave my mum, dad, the kids, my birth mum zena and I’m not ready to meet with my big mate moogs at the Rainbow Bridge just yet. I know the costs are high and the estimated cost will be $10,000. I’m not asking for much, just a little to help out my parents.

My mum and dad are hoping we can raise up to $6,000 to help with all of my medical costs. If anymore is given it will be donated to my friends at Mastiff Breeds Rescue & Rehoming Charitable Trust.

I start my first round of treatment on Thursday 21st May 2015.

I bred this gorgeous girl and know what a wonderful life her owners Lesa and Juls have provided. With your help, we can hopefully put Kadie into remission to live a long, happy and healthy life

Hi all, just a quick update on the little miss. She seems to be having a ball. Her mum has said on the facebook page, her lumps and bumps have reduced and not grown any more, so they have retreated on further treatments. A big huge thank you to all. I will get photos up soon. THANK YOU ALL.....
