To purchase a CuddleCot for families who experience the loss of a baby. The CuddleCot helps keep baby cool to allow families time with them.
Taranaki
On the 1st of September 2020, our baby boy Artem was born sleeping. We had three days with him, two of those spent at home where his two older siblings were able to meet him as well as the rest of our whānau. Ten months on we are now mourning the loss of another baby so deeply wanted, our daughter Amity-Raine, born the 1st of July 2021. She joined her brother after 18 precious hours earth side and grew her angel wings on the 2nd of July 2021.
We have decided to fundraise for a CuddleCot for other families who may experience loss. The inspiration for this comes in the memory of Artem and Amity-Raine.
The purpose of the CuddleCot unit is to cool baby, allowing families to bring them home without embalming. Fortunately as we were previously known to Sands with Artem, Sands advocated and asked the hospital to release a CuddleCot to us for the duration of Amity-Raines’ stay at home. Having this cooling unit meant we were able to spend five days with our daughter. We are so thankful to Sands and Wellington Hospital for allowing us to have that time with her. Our use of the CuddleCot and experience confirmed the importance and need to have such a resource available to newly bereaved parents.
A CuddleCot is manufactured and imported from England, with shipping and tax they can cost up to $6000. This CuddleCot will be gifted to Sands Taranaki and if the goal is exceeded funds will then be donated to Sands Taranaki for maintenance purposes on the CuddleCot and also to help toward financing the amazing things they do for bereaved whānau.
If you would like to support this cause in memory of Artem and Amity-Raine, your donation will be gratefully received.
