And it begins!

Hi beautiful humans,

Just wanted to send a quick update to let you know where we are at with the surrogacy stuff!

I am starting my hormone injections tonight in preparation to have my eggs harvested yipeeeee! The hormones increase the number of eggs I produce so that we have as many as possible to create as many embryos as possible. I take the injections for a week, have a scan / bloods to check the size of my ovaries, if they're at the right size then we're good to go and head down to Christchurch to have them harvested within 36 hours. Otherwise I keep injections until they reach the necessary size.

We've had lots of appointments with lawyers, counsellors and doctors in the past month or so both here in Wellington and down in Christchurch, and having the contributions made by you all sitting there ready for us to use when needed has made things SO much more stress free. So thank you thank you thank you for taking the financial weight off our shoulders. We will be forever grateful.

All the documents for the Ethics approval have to be in by Monday, and the committee is meeting in mid-dec to review and will have a decision to us in early Jan. Although its nerve wracking, the fact they're letting us go ahead with the egg harvesting and embryo creating before the approval is a great sign that they're confident that we'll be approved.
