Please help Mum reach the target as she fights her large brain tumour.....
Canterbury
My mum is only 54, with 3 children and a new first grandchild.
She has a large inoperable brain tumour.
It is large and has grown deep within her brain, entangling itself in and around many structures. Her optic nerve, sinuses, pituatory gland, carotid artery and brain stem are all involved. The tumour has now grown down the left side of her brain, and is making the left side of her face numb and affecting her swallowing sensations. It has eroded her left cochlea and she will lose her hearing soon in one ear.
She is now residing at Daffodil Lodge in Christchurch and has now started the six week, daily treatment plan of radiotherapy to her brain which will be life-threatening if not successful. There is a long road ahead for Debbie, our mum and she will be spending a few months in Christchurch, basically to save her life and stop her losing her sight, hearing and swallowing ability.
She is so brave and never complains or makes an issue of it all. Careful observations are being made where the tumour touches her brain stem.
There are some risks with her treatment, including going blind during treatment but these risks have to be taken to prevent even worse consequences of not having the treatment.
Any financial support you can give to our much loved mum would be so very much appreciated. We are trying to reach our target to fund treatment costs, loss of income, and be prepared for the next stage which would be an operation around the brainstem but only if current treatments dont work.
This is a dreadful situation which simply breaks my heart. She has always been a hard worker, proud and private but really needs support from everyone now.
Having dedicated her life to helping others, as a nanny, healthcare worker, hospital worker and ambulance technician spanning 30 years, it is now her turn to be cared for.
Please Give A Little for my mum. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Kate (daughter).
Debbie is my mum and my best friend.
I want to help her in any way I can to get through this scary time.
Any monies given will be used to substitute loss of earnings during treatment and recovery period.
If there is any surplus, this will be used to pay things off to make life easier so that Deb doesn't have to work so hard, even a little treat perhaps.
Final funds so needed please...... 25 November 2020
My brave mum has completed her 28 sessions of brain radiotherapy and is home now. The treatment has been a lot harder than she thought it would be, and we are hopeful it has gone well. She has to wait a few months for the brain swelling to subside before a further MRI can give us the news we are so hoping for. She is struggling with hearing and headaches but soldiering on with no complaints. We are desperately needing to raise funds to see her through this period of tough recovery, as you can appreciate expenses and bills have to be paid still as well as getting special glasses for her sight, which are unaffordable to her and she needs them now so much. There is a very high chance that she will be having an ear operation to drain her ear in the New Year, an effect of the radiation. She is trying so hard to be her usual bright and positive self but I know that the financial stress is overwhelming her and making her physical and mental recovery so much harder. Please HELP MY MUM get better..... TRYING TO REACH $13,000. $3000 needed please, please.
