Gisborne

Thank God Tracey and her two beautiful daughters were not in their beloved caravan when it burnt to the ground. They have their lives but have lost soo much. Tracey has worked hard over the years to get her camping gear together and have the "perfect" set up. She is soo passionate about camping, it is a reward to herself and her beautiful girls for the hard work they put in during the school year and something they look forward to every year. She plans and saves throughout the year to have all the treats for their 6 to 8 week camp at Pouawa. Sadly this has come to an end when a gas fridge exploded and caused a fire that took not only the caravan but thousands of dollars of belongings, including all of her girls clothing, kitchen gear from home, the food/treats/presents she had saved all year for and all other camping gear - gazebo, tents etc. Sadly - no insurance. :(

Heartfelt thanks from Tracey, Maia & Mandy  15 December 2019

I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the support and kindness shown to my girls and I.

Initially I was very embarrassed about receiving charity…especially being so close to Christmas. But our wonderful loving friends and family have made me realise how very loved we are. We are very humbled and words cannot not express the gratitude we feel. This has given us a chance to start again the one thing we love and do as a family, to build memories and connections.

We have had a process of emotions through this ordeal. My children have never had a summer in town, they have spent every summer out at the beach. They were so devastated and felt quite lost. I needed to help lift their spirits. We are now able to turn this around to an exciting new venture and give them something to look forward to because of many people's generosity and kindness.

It started with an emotional clean up of the rubble at our campsite. The only thing that survived was our tent pegs. So with a positive spirit, we started with tent pegs as our first camping item! From there, with many people's warm generosity, we have been given all sorts of camping equipment and are now excitedly focusing on building up our camping gear for next year, a whole new camping experience.

Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts for the love and support. Christmas blessings to you all.
