Our mum has been given weeks (19/7) to live and we would like to give her the chance to see her family. Needs cataract surgery urgently.
Auckland
Our mum has just been told (19/7/2018) that she has an aggressive cancer and that she only has weeks to live.
To make matters worse, Mum has cataracts in both eyes and she can no longer see. She is on the public wait list but it is now a race against time. Chemo has accelerated the issue and her vision has all but gone (4% vision). She can no longer see our faces, she just recognises us by shape and sound.
We would love to be able to raise enough money to just get one of her eyes done. That way, we can gift her the gift of sight and allow her to see us all ( family) during her last few weeks. I couldn’t think of anything more amazing than her being able to see us all as well as her grandchildren before she goes.
Mums dream holiday is to stay at Huka Lodge in Taupo. It’s really expensive and well beyond our means to be able to do this for her. If there were enough funds, then we would love to make her dream come true. That would be so amazing.
Mum was diagnosed with cancer last November. She went through Chemo like a champion, never complained, just got on with it. She was very frightened but knew she had to do it. Her treatment finished in March and a scan gave her the "all clear". It has been a shock to find out that the cancer has returned and has spread so aggressively in just a matter of months.
Thank you so so much for helping our Family out. We will be forever grateful.
We are her 3 children, and would love for mum to be able to actually see us all in her last few weeks. For her to be able to see the sun set, to watch the birds in the trees, to see the waves crashing on the beach.
The funds will be spent on cataract surgery and if sufficient funds are raised, we would like to fulfill mums dream holiday. Staying at Huka Lodge in Taupo. Mum has not been out of Auckland in 10-15 Years, this would truly be a dream come true for her.
