Let's get Disha Gomathinayagam to the Global Development Tour 2017!
Auckland
This year, I have been fortunate enough to be selected as one of 22 delegates from New Zealand to attend the Global Development Tour 2017! This UN Youth led trip involves travelling to various countries for 30 days including, Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Copenhagen, London, and culminates in New York with the Winter Youth Assembly at the UN Headquarters.
Ban Ki-moon (Secretary General of the UN) said that the Youth Assembly is an important mechanism of the UN. Not only does it give young people a chance to be included...it also brings new perspectives to the General Assembly, thereby enriching it's work.
The purpose of this trip is to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals, connect with organisations, meet our generation's policy makers, and gain a unique perspective on global issues that affect us daily. The skills I will gain, and the people I will meet will definitely aid me in my endeavour to work for the United Nations in the future, to help others, and make a real change in the world.
With an amazing learning and leadership opportunity like the Global Development Tour, there is a cost. It is only with your donations and help that I will be able to reach my goal of $8000, and this trip will become a reality for me. Please click on the pink 'Donate Now' tab on this page as every small contribution will be a blessing and goodwill for my trip.
