MAT provides the training of new community driving mentors & matches them with learner drivers needing immediate or extended coaching.

The Migrant Action Trust (MAT) manages the Puketapapa Community Driving School, a community-owned and operated social enterprise in the heart of Puketapapa. Also known as PCDS, the Puketapapa Community Driving School specialises in supporting young drivers, new migrants, ethnic women, resettled communities (former refugees) and those who find it the hardest to gain their drivers' licence. In two years we have provided 2,940 hours of driving lessons to almost 500 enrollees with 162 passers in 2019. Read our story in pcds.co.nz/our-social-impact.

Our goal is to make PCDS the Auckland’s Driving School of choice for premium driving training services. PCDS offers courses that cater to all people in our community. We provide access to vehicles, mentor drivers who specialise in language support and subsidised training & testing.

About us

The Migrant Action Trust (MAT) helps migrants and former refugees settle in New Zealand and become fully integrated into NZ society. MAT's three core programmes: Migrants Supporting Migrants, Arrival to Integration and Supporting Groups.

Use of funds

- Train new community driving mentors and eventually be a qualified driving instructor

- Funding for interpreters and test day support person

- Petrol + maintenance

- Pay-it-forward driving lessons
