Doobie A 17 week old Schnauzer in need of a liver shunt operation.
Canterbury
Every time I tell our story it breaks my heart, After so many wonderful people wanting to help Doobie survive and thrive I have been told here is the most transparent way ..... Now I am writing this at a little over midnight so please read through my grammar and spelling errors....A little over four months ago we added a gorgeous wee Schnauzer to our family, she was adorable and opened our hearts to sharing our home with a fur baby, just two weeks later she was rushed to the vets and passed soon after leaving us devastated. With much discussion we knew that there was a reason and lesson in her only blessing us with her short life and that we wanted not to replace her but to fill the hole in our lives, After contact with another breeder we brought Doobie 2, she was tiny but adorable sadly at 12 weeks we noticed her getting very fussy and uninterested in her surroundings, After blood tests, an Ultrasound and a CT scan she’s been diagnosed with a single shunt which runs outside of the liver meaning she needs meds twice a day for the rest of her life, which will be a very short one of 18 months to 2 years, as the medication will help stabilise the shunt but cause other issues or an operation to close the shunt, All going well research shows a 95%success rate.
She is currently stable and doing normal puppy things but tires very quickly and is happy to spend most of her days snuggled up close by.
