The Dripping Bowl loves to feed people nourishing wholefoods, which is why we are teaming with the Wanaka Foodbank this Winter.

Otago

Did you know?

• Did you know that the numbers of people accessing the Wanaka Community Foodbank in the winter goes up by 25%?

• Did you know that for the last three years Queenstown-Lakes Districts average house price is approximately 12 times the average household income?

This is the highest in New Zealand.

• Did you know that the average weekly rent is $60.00 more in the Queenstown-Lakes District compared to the rest of New Zealand?

• Did you know Wanaka Community Foodbank is the only service of its kind in the Upper Clutha? That means they service Makarora, Hawea, Luggate & Glendhu areas also.

• Did you know the Wanaka Food Bank is located at Community Networks on Brownston Street?

• Did you know one of the biggest road blocks for people seeking to access the Foodbank is feeling ashamed that they can’t make ends meet?

A lot of people (including us initially) are unaware of the daily trials that many families in this community face to make ends meet, including feeding themselves or their families.

The individuals and families accessing the Foodbank could be experiencing an array of difficulties such as a sudden illness, financial stress, domestic violence or major relationship breakdown.

The Dripping Bowl is collaborating with the Wanaka Foodbank to Nourish & warm those in need this Winter.

Here’s how it will work:

This will be a system of ‘Paying it forward’. You can either donate here online or in person at the Dripping Bowl.

The money raised will be used to provide the Wanaka food bank with another option when being asked for assistance. Now they can provide hot nourishing meals in real time, when most needed.

Often individuals and families wish to remain anonymous, so when armed with Dripping Bowl vouchers from the foodbank, a family can approach us to receive a full mains meal for each person.

That’s a wholefoods soup with toppings and organic, locally made Sourdough from Ruth & Jeremy at The Peoples Bread Co.

The Dripping Bowl will offer full disclosure to the Wanaka Foodbank as to the cost of production and has no intentions of this being a profit-making exercise.

The intention is to have a perfect marriage of core capabilities between private enterprise and a charitable organisation for the good of the community in which they operate.

We’re also raising awareness another way!

We have a group of mighty men willing to shave off their beards and bring awareness to the fact that Wanaka has a food bank!

If you know of any men or woman willing to clean shave their heads don’t hesitate to put them forward.

The Dripping Bowl loves to feed people fresh, nourishing and tasty wholefoods (additive and preservative free). Where possible we use organic and local ingredients.

But we want to make sure that everyone has access to this level of quality of food.

Let’s come together and support each other, no matter the circumstances, to allow all of us in this community to be nourished and warm this winter.
