Craig’s entire business was stolen in 5 minutes of him leaving his truck. All gone.
Auckland
Thursday 25th March my partner Craig left our home in Titirangi in his Truck with his digger and all his tools on the back and headed to East Auckland to meet a new client and do a little drain job. He hopped out of his truck at 9:47am and went to speak to his lovely client and at 9:52am someone hopped in his truck and drove away.
They drove away with everything he had worked for for the last 3 years. Up until then he was working for someone else but for the last 3 years with no help from anyone he had gone out on his own. Barely making it work week to week but still pushing hard he was slowly able to at least pay bills. This has been a hard slog for everyone with covid but he has still been pushing his little one man business along anyway.
Unfortunately with things unclear, and due to covid & lack of work & high premiums insurance had unfortunately lapsed and wasn’t up to date so there is no safety net for us, I know he feels very embarrassed about this but I wanted to be transparent.
Talking to him this morning he is broken, he can’t even hand dig as his spade and wheelbarrow were on the back. He had taken so much with him as the job was so far away it’s just made it worse. He feels like he has lost his identity. Everything he has worked for and it is a very helpless and hopeless feeling right now.
I thought to set this up just as a way to try and show him that people care, he isn’t a big social media guy but I wanted him to feel supported and to know he’s not alone. He is a lovely man, works hard for his clients and his friends, gives up his weekends and his time for people in his life. It’s hard to see him so broken.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this. I appreciate all the support in anyway. We are still holding out hope this may be found but by looks of the latest photo it seems clear that concrete saw and wheelbarrow, ramps, all tools will be missing and who knows the state of we get it back the vehicles will be in.
Appreciate everyone sharing and caring x
My person.
Any money raised will go towards tools for Craig to be able to even hand dig if he can to keep his work moving forward.
New Truck 25 June 2021
So it’s nearly been 3mnths and no sign of anything at all, not one tool has been recovered. They think they know who stole the gear but they are just bottom feeders with charges for everything, ones on the run, ones in jail and still no sign of anything so feels pretty hopeless.
Thankfully due to all your amazing donations Craig was able to buy himself a little truck, he is in heaven after borrowing and trying to make things work for so long. He is so happy with it and it is an amazing launchpad for him to keep things moving and keep him busy to start squirrelling away for a second hand digger when he finds the right one. We will be forever grateful to everyone’s generosity and understanding and you can bet the truck was insured and sorted before he drove it off the lot, and is being locked and watched and all the rest! If anyone has any advice on the best GPS tracker that would be amazing too.
Above all else I would love to thank you all for your messages, like that type of support was so incredible, reading the encouragement and words of advice and just the genuineness behind every single comment was amazing. We both read all of them, I know Craig read them when he was feeling frustrated with the situation, I read them out to him and to myself as we went along. The understanding and support we received was just next level and I will be forever grateful for the selflessness and love we experienced.
If anyone needs any drainage jobs done, or has any information please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Craig or I. 0210324697 (Dayna Rutherfurd) … 021958025 (Craig Hodgkinson)
We still would love to have our things back so appreciate everyone still looking out for us. But obviously life has to still keep rolling along.
I’ll attach a pic of Craig’s new truck so everyone can give him a wave when you see him!
Thanks once again.
Dayna xx
