About us

Toimata Foundation was originally formed back in 2003 and was then known as The Enviroschools Foundation. In 2015 we stepped into the name Toimata Foundation.

Toimata is a concept from Dame Katerina Te Heikoko Mataira, evoking ideas of creativity and craft, sustainability and vision. The takarangi design that makes up the Toimata logo depicts all life nestled in the embrace of Ranginui and Papatūānuku and their love that flows from all who have gone before, to us here in the present, and all generations to come.

Kia ora koutou! Firstly we would like to mihi to all of you who are supporting and who have supported the Enviroschools Kaupapa over the years. If you are new to the kaupapa, WELCOME! Nau mai! We are in transitioning times and with changes to our current government funding we are excited at the opportunity to explore other partnerships long term. In the interim though, we need support to make this transition as smooth as possible and to allow us at the national team to continue the work supporting the regions while also seeking out further options.
