We want all dogs to be happy and safe, and for dogs to be seen as significant contributors to the health of the community.

We are a new charity, with registration pending, based in New Plymouth.

Our our aim is to improve the lives of dogs, their owners and the wider community. We promote responsible dog ownership, we advocate for dogs and we believe that dogs can provide benefits to the physical and mental health of everyone in the community. We also want to promote the tools and resources so that all dogs can live a happy and safe life while their "owners" get the most fulfilment possible in having a dog in their household.

We have a number of programmes we either have in the early or planning stage or will be putting into place in the future. These include a Reading to Dogs programme in libraries in NP district; a K9 company programme where volunteers take vetted dogs into the senior and special needs communities (private homes, community groups, hospice, retirement villages, etc.); school education programmes, desexing and inoculation campaigns, and support local councils to enhance rehoming and reduce euthanasia in pounds. We are talking with the New Plymouth District Council around the establishment of a dog park, how it can be effectively managed and will be expanding that conversation into wider dog issues, bylaws and facilities.

This is a volunteer based organisation.

Use of funds

Funds will cover running costs of the charity and its programmes. On request we are happy to direct donations into the programme of the donors choice. Any excess funds will be directed to dog rehoming organisations.
