Meg has battled cancer twice already, it has returned and the odds are against her. Please help us fulfil the items on her bucket list.
Canterbury
As those who have been following Meg's story may be aware, the Boswell-Hore family have been working on Megs bucket list, and recently made a trip to Disneyland Paris and the UK. It was a very fun trip for the family and a good break from Meg’s medical battles.
When they got back, however, it was time to go back into the post-cancer routine. Little did they know that their new way of life would blow up in their faces.
After Meg’s routine 3-month check-up, she was called back into the hospital. The CT scan found nodules in her lungs. There was a chance that it would not be cancer, but the fates have not been on their side of late. The doctors decided that they could remove the nodules by removing 4/7 of Meg’s left lung. She has now had the surgery and is currently recovering.
From here the family will recreate the post-cancer routine, adding in the new hurdles this has thrown at them.
Meg will continue her 3-month check-ups and if they find more nodules then they will have to remove more lung. At this stage the cancer is not terminal, but there is only so much lung they can remove. Once she has reached that point, she will then become terminal. There is, however, hope. If Meg reaches 5 years of clear scans, the likelihood that it will return shrinks dramatically.
Megs philosophy is, “I may not have quantity of life, but I can have quality of life.” She is back at the University of Canterbury, studying English and Communications, so that when she beats this she will have a degree and can continue on to her dream of being a librarian.
To add to all of this, the family are currently moving house so that their house’s earthquake damage can be repaired.
UPDATE: 2 September.
Meg has now developed drug induced leukemia, the odds are not fabulous, and time is limited. She and her beautiful family have opted for the palliative pathway, so her Bucket list Is now ultra important, but has been modified to concentrate on things within NZ.
Please folks help, make this happen. Meg deserves to have quality time, and fighting cancer four times is beyond anyone's comprehension. Such a beautiful soul does not deserve to have to fight yet another battle.
I am a long standing family friend who has known Meg since she made her appearance in this world. As a friend it is hard to standby and watch this beautiful young woman's battle. Please help the family with Megs Bucket List.
The funds will go towards Megs dream of visiting the last three Disney parks, a Disney cruise, and ticking off some things on her bucket list, such as attending a musical (Les Miserables).
Rest In peace and Fly High dearest Meg 14 October 2019
Megs "Fun"eral was held today.
It was a beautiful celebration of a life lived to the fullest.
Meg thankyou for the life lessons, and the timely visitation from a pair of ducks during the ceremony. The singing was very moving, and the tributes from your family may have incurred a few drops from my tear ducts.
Please if any of you wish to contribute to Megs fund, please do so before it closes and assist her family to complete visits to the last three Disneyland's on Megs bucket list in her honour.
