The Porter Family need our help. Thomas is fighting oesophagus cancer and we can help his young family.

Wellington

Thomas Porter is a cherished father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend to many.

In April 2019, at only 43 years old, Thomas was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer that had spread to his liver and some lymph nodes.

He started chemotherapy in May 2019, and at this stage he is looking at 6 months of treatment. Due to the effects of the treatment and prognosis of remaining life (unto 18 months) he has stopped working. He will be spending as much quality time with family and friends as possible. Thomas will continue to volunteer at the Paekakariki bike library and Whareroa Farm Guardians.

This has been a very emotional experience for everyone around us, especially Thomas.

Thomas thanks everyone near and far for their endless support, love, kind words and prayers through his journey. He would especially like to thanks his ex-employer, Kordia, for its support and understanding in this difficult time.

We are all so grateful for the support that everyone has given and shown Thomas through this hard time. We have created this page to help Thomas and his family through this period. He loves spending time with family & friends and volunteer groups. Thomas is most concerned for his family and their financial security after he passes away. Any financial support that you could give this family will allow the short time ahead to be as fun and filled with love as possible.

Use of funds

Enabling Thomas to make the most of his remaining time with his family and to prepare for his family's future.

Thank You & Update  21 August 2019

Thomas and his family would like to thank everyone for their donations!

Just an update from Thomas:

"This whole cancer thing is a mystery to all. The ct scan results have shown a reduction of 25 to 50 percent. Mostly around 25 percent, I think the mention of 50 per cent only referred to one or two lesions. However size and potency are not necessarily related. Blood tests are showing good big reduction but not all cancers produce the markers that get checked.

So over all treatment is successful, at above average. I also feel good and are able to do lots of stuff. This is also a very good indicator of what is happening."
