We are fundraising to help five women attend a feminist event in Australia.
Auckland
Some Australian feminists have invited us to come over for a private event on women's lands in October. This event involves:
- Learning about shared Australasian feminist history
- Meeting many other feminists who share our kaupapa
- Doing some conservation volunteer work and/or voluntary labouring
We are fundraising to help reduce the travel costs for the 5 women on the trip.
We will use what we learn on our trip to Australia to run a similar camp over the summer in New Zealand, so the lesbian-positive feminist movement in NZ keeps growing!

The Lesbian Rights Alliance Aotearoa is an informal collective of lesbian feminists. We started the group in early 2018 after we noticed lesbians falling through the gaps of mainstream LGBTQIA+ organisations.
We aim to:
- Support lesbian wellbeing,
- End anti-lesbian stigma and discrimination,
- Secure and maintain lesbian legal and human rights and
- Improve lesbian representation and visibility.
We've worked towards these goals by having regular social catch ups, celebrating Lesbian Visibility Day, initiating dialogue about lesbian wellbeing with the Minister for Women and running community events such as ILGA for Lesbians.
Five women will benefit from this fundraiser, including me.
The money will be spent on flights for five women based in different parts of NZ to and from Australia. Any surplus money fundraised will be used to pay for translation of resources currently on our website and about to be released.
Thank you so far! 11 September 2019
We've been given some money directly to help cover some of the costs of travel, so now we don't need to fundraise as much money.
