As ratepayers we deserve better conduct from our councils and access to justice. This is not of our own making. Where is Justice? Pro Bono?
Nelson / Tasman
I desperately need help so I can continue fighting for justice, uphold our rights and hold onto my property.
Many of us are hurting at this time dealing with serious health and financial issues. I feel ashamed that I am calling for help. Unfortunately, desperate circumstances call for me
to do all I can to fight in preservation of our rights as ratepayers and help prevent others becoming disadvantaged through no fault of their own.
Feburary 22-2011 While visiting my elderly Mum in Christchurch, the earthquake hit, we were lucky and got out. Mum came to live with me up north, had a stroke in June 2011 and I became her fulltime carer.
In 2014 while I was absent, attending to Mums EQC repairs in Christchurch, unauthorized building work was done on my property without my knowledge, consent or authorization. At this same time the Council “lost” my building consent file, undertook inspections and “passed” the unauthorized building work -also without my knowledge, consent or authorization. This special place for Mum to enjoy, a 40yr dream, this property was intended never to be sold. My intentions were that a third of the year it was to be used as respite care for those in need for no fee.
Despite extensive efforts of 5 ½ years in pursuit of accountability, justice and resolution I have been left with a half built house, a silent council, and no access to legal assistance.
I have been told -it is “too big”, “too small,” I am “not a class action”-“justice is only for the wealthy who can afford the legal costs”. Costs quoted to me to pursue in court “$100K.” Why is this the case in NZ? Where is Pro Bono? We can do better.
Sadly missed, my dear Mum passed away Aug last year. Our time together cherished. I promised to her to put things right. Pride aside, I need to do all I can.
No Job, no funds, reluctantly my property has had to be listed for sale
Any help is gratefully appreciated.
There are good people - together we all make a difference.
I have known Di for over 45yrs and I am doing this as a supportive and concerned friend having seen what she has experienced trying to seek justice.
Funds for legal/Solicitor fees to get this attended to in the high court. Should there be any residue of donations I would be passing these on to worthy charities.
