Fight for Tamsyn's Precious Time

Tamsyn is a mother, a former triathlete and a police officer whose strength, resilience, and bravery have always defined her. Three years ago, at age 37, she was diagnosed with stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer. She fought with everything she had- strength, grit and determination, she bet the odds and was declared pathologically clear of cancer. She got her life back, returned to raising her 10-year-old daughter Anja, and completed a Wanaka half Ironman—proving her unstoppable spirit.
Now, the cancer has returned, spreading to multiple parts of her body. She has been given a terminal diagnosis with a time frame of 3-12 months. True to who she has always been, she's meeting it with strength, dignity and a focus on the people she loves the most. Her world right now is her daughter Anja.
Through it all, Tamsyn remains fiercely determined to fight and give Anja her mum for as long as possible. She cherishes precious time with her husband Glen, family, and friends, and carries the memory of her stillborn daughter, Aroha, close to her heart.

Funds raised will go towards treatment that could extend her life, the first treatment- Enhertu (trastuzumab) comes with a cost of $120,000. Her strand of TNBC is not covered by public funding.

July and August have been huge for Tamsyn, with some incredibly tough lows but also some special highs.
She travelled to Auckland for SABR radiation on her spine, targeting tumours that were becoming a concern and helping prevent pressure on her spinal cord. It was the sickest she has ever felt, but thankfully had family there for support. ❤️
She has now started Cycle 2 of Trodelvy, costing around $20k a month. The side effects can be brutal, but she is managing so far. Due to the rarity of her cancer and the cost, she is currently the only person in Dunedin receiving it.
Her spine hasn’t been re-scanned yet as it was too soon after radiation. Tumour markers rose during the 6 weeks without chemo, but a CT at the end of July showed the tumours were either stable or had only small growth. Her latest bloods show a small decrease, which is encouraging. The next CT is likely in early October.

Last weekend, Tamsyn escaped the cancer world for a weekend in Christchurch to see Alex Warren with a friend and colleague. Anja came too, making it extra special.
Nine months since her terminal diagnosis, she continues to focus on the highs and muscle through the lows.
