Financial support for educational needs for Dominic Trembath
Taupo, Waikato
Hi, my name is Dominic and I am a 7 year old boy who lives in Taupo. I was diagnosed with High Functioning Extrovert Autism. I am very smart and was already able to read and write when I was only 2 years old! I have been classified as "Socially Awkward" which means going to a normal mainstream school is hard for me. I get bullied and other kids make fun of me. I don't understand why other kids have friends and get invited to parties but I'm never allowed to go. They say I am weird... My mum asked for help and the important people she met with recommended that I should be home schooled. I love my mummy and love spending time with her but I want to learn at school - not at home! I want to be around other children and learn from an experienced teacher who can teach me the skills to play with other children and to learn about my needs and feelings.
In some ways we are lucky because there is a special school for children just like me not far from my house. There are other children like me there - I might even be able to make some friends! The only problem is that the school is private and although mummy and daddy are talking to lots of places in our community to get support, they can't afford $275 per week for this school. So my Oma and aunties and uncles are trying to help me, and I was hoping you might also be able to help. Lots of small amounts can make a huge difference too. Thank you so much for reading about me, and thank you to all those who have helped!
Dominic is our very special member of the whanau and my grandchild
