  • 19 Nov - Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day

      24 November 2020

    Dearest friends,

Today is World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day and what better time to reconnect with you all and update you about our darling Jane.

A lot has happened since we last posted in August. In October Jane’s mother Patricia visited from Dunedin, they had a lovely time. Jane managed to get a break in her chemo week and attended her very good friends daughter’s wedding .It was a magical day!

With your financial support Jane has also met with a Private Oncologist for a second opinion and a Private Pancreatic Surgeon for help with ongoing pain. The positive outcome is Jane received an endoscopic celiac nerve block which has helped her tremendously on a daily basis.

Her bi-weekly chemotherapy continues on with a couple of short interruptions due to infections which resulted in a couple of hospital stays. During the week-off the toxicity begins to retreat and Jane gets her bounce back and fills her time with friend and family visits.

Jane’s “on” weeks are filled with hospital and specialist appointments and she continues with alternative treatments and supplements. All of this comes at a cost and your ongoing financial help would be gratefully received.

Yesterday Jane underwent her 3 monthly CT scan with results due early next week. These results will have a BIG impact on Jane’s next decisions; whether to continue Chemotherapy or embrace alternative therapies.

All things going to plan, Jane will complete her first full chemotherapy course early December. Just in time for Christmas!

Jane is touched and truly appreciates all your calls and messages of support and love. She’s sorry if she hasn’t got back to you personally but is slowly getting there.

    Arohanui x

  • A tough month

      23 August 2020

    Dear friends,

Great to connect with you all again and I sincerely thank you for your ongoing support, messages and aroha.

It's been a tough month. Chemo started well but ended with all sorts of complications and I spent the whole month in hospital. This was a double challenge with COVID raising its ugly head again and visitations with friends greatly restricted.

I am super happy to be back at home with my 2 boys and my fighting spirit and strength is getting stronger each day.

There’s been lots of research going on to find alternative methods that can be done alongside the conventional chemo and I shall be meeting with a pancreatic surgeon for a second opinion as soon as restrictions are lifted. Alternative therapist appointments are all in the pipeline too.

Round 2 of Chemo is scheduled Friday 4th September at which stage I will be fighting strong again.

I am very grateful and touched by all your outpourings of love and offers of support. If I haven't responded directly to you please do not be offended, I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Love and light to you all.

    Jane x

  • UPDATE 23 July 2020 - chemo begins

      23 July 2020

    Dear friends and family,

Jane has now had her portacath insertion in her chest and starts hard core chemo this Friday 24 July. It’s all very scary and unknown but she’s being very strong and brave. She’s bought new sheets and a new duvet for the bed, as she’s spending lots of time there now, and a new device to use while in receiving the chemo.

She has changed her diet and is taking a number of natural products to assist her strength. She has also been having regular reiki and therapeutic massage therapies.

She’s looking to book a second opinion post the first round of chemotherapy treatment, which is 3 months total. They will then know how she responds and she will also have an update on her cancer.

Jane wants to thank you kindly you all for your messages, calls and support, it’s all so overwhelming, but knowing she has so many people with her on this journey means so much.

Right now she’s very happy to hear from you and needs all those messages more than ever to help her through. She can be contacted on janepaape@hotmail.com, and Facebook. Mornings are best.

Lots of love, light and hugs everyone

    xxx

  • UPDATE 1 July 2020

      1 July 2020

    Hi all,

Jane's oncologist diagnosis yesterday was grim. Her only option is to start aggressive chemotherapy, this will begin in 2 weeks time. She is also going to start intravenous Vitamin C therapy with your support funds. She is also exploring mistletoe intravenous therapy, an alternative chemotherapy as an additional option.

She thanks you for all your support.
