19 Nov - Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day
24 November 2020Dearest friends,
Today is World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day and what better time to reconnect with you all and update you about our darling Jane.
A lot has happened since we last posted in August. In October Jane’s mother Patricia visited from Dunedin, they had a lovely time. Jane managed to get a break in her chemo week and attended her very good friends daughter’s wedding .It was a magical day!
With your financial support Jane has also met with a Private Oncologist for a second opinion and a Private Pancreatic Surgeon for help with ongoing pain. The positive outcome is Jane received an endoscopic celiac nerve block which has helped her tremendously on a daily basis.
Her bi-weekly chemotherapy continues on with a couple of short interruptions due to infections which resulted in a couple of hospital stays. During the week-off the toxicity begins to retreat and Jane gets her bounce back and fills her time with friend and family visits.
Jane’s “on” weeks are filled with hospital and specialist appointments and she continues with alternative treatments and supplements. All of this comes at a cost and your ongoing financial help would be gratefully received.
Yesterday Jane underwent her 3 monthly CT scan with results due early next week. These results will have a BIG impact on Jane’s next decisions; whether to continue Chemotherapy or embrace alternative therapies.
All things going to plan, Jane will complete her first full chemotherapy course early December. Just in time for Christmas!
Jane is touched and truly appreciates all your calls and messages of support and love. She’s sorry if she hasn’t got back to you personally but is slowly getting there.
