Canterbury
On the 11th of May, our wee girl Grace was diagnosed with a large brain tumour, the severity of which was unknown. Whilst being prepared for the worst by the specialist in Dunedin, we were hugely optimistic and positive about Grace's future as we waited for results of a biopsy undertaken in Starship hospital 2 weeks ago.
On Thursday, we flew to Christchurch to receive these results and we are beyond thankful and relieved to share the news that the tumour is benign. Due to the location (in the middle of Grace's brain and attached to the brain stem), the neurosurgeon is unable to operate, therefore we are aiming to shrink and manage the tumour with low doses of chemo, likely administered at Dunedin and sometimes Christchurch Hospital. The outlook for Grace is good, she will need everything she needed before this journey unfolded as the specialist said the best therapy for Grace will be continuing life as she knew it before the diagnosis.
This has been a time of devastating lows but also euphoric highs. We have seen the capacity of love that people have and we have met some incredible families who will always be in our lives from here on in. I have had a harsh lesson in life's priorities and cherishing every moment with the people you love. I know Grace better than I ever have and she is so strong, I have zero doubt that she will beat this and live an extraordinary life. She is an amazing little girl and I am beyond proud of her.
It is a very long road for us all, but Grace has blown our minds at every turn with her resilience and strength and I wanted to thank every single person who has prayed, sent us positive thoughts and love, cooked us meals, kept mummies spirits up with wines and cuddles, friends who have dropped everything to take care of Soph and Beau, collections from the airport, there are so many things people have done that we are just so grateful for. Thank you all for your ongoing support, it means the world to our family and we feel blessed to have so many amazing people in our lives.
Paula and Alex are my dear friends who I wanted to help in any way possible. I hope this takes some pressure off and continues to show everyone's support and love for your family
Support the Moore family while Alex is off work and to help with Medical expenses and bills during this time. When Grace is up to it and feeling well please also use this for some quality family time for a lovely trip away
