Francis needs to be by Geri's side while she is in recovery for 4 weeks. We need to raise some funds to help them get through this.
Bay of Plenty
A hairdresser by trade, Geri is a hard working Christian, much loved friend, Aunty, Mum and wife, but in the last 5 years has been unable to work due to ill health and going on dialysis. Their only income is from her husband Francis, sometimes working 50-60 hours just to give them some extra money. Geri's health can be that bad that she is unable to do simple tasks like hanging out the washing, vacuuming the house, making her daughters lunch.
A diabetic from birth (this was passed on from Mum), asthmatic and scoliosis (inherited from some physical abuse during childhood), sight lost in one eye (botched eye surgery), Geri has been plagued with many health setbacks. By receiving this new kidney and pancreas she will no longer have diabetes (which will take care of all the problems that come with it). Geri will be able to walk the roads, step up her daily swimming regime, possibly go back into work part-time, take her son and daughter to their after school activities and start to become apart of her community more often.
Geri is my cousin, my Mum pulled her out of a bad situation when we were younger and she lived with us on and off during our upbringing. We have remained close and call upon each other in times of need. This is the one time that I feel I can really help, so that her recovery will be achieved with ease and little stress. Thankfully, Geri has been notified that she has been added to the kidney transplant list, she will also receive a new pancreas at the same time. Recovery time after the operation means that she has to stay in Auckland to have checkups everyday for 4 weeks. Geri's husband Francis will need to be by her side for the duration, which means taking 4 weeks off work, regardless. This donation will help them both by assisting to pay their rent, feed their 2 children (Jahvis and Cheyenne) and paying any bills that may pop up during that time.
Help pay their rent, utilities, weekly bills - it may not cover them all but anything would be helpful. Any extra money received on top of what is needed will be given to another person who is getting a transplant.
