Help Bean get to Auckland for FND treatment
Taranaki
This page is set up to help my sister in law, Bean, and to get her and a support person to Auckland. She has been acepted into a clincial trial with great sucess rates. She is set to go up in a few weeks and needs help to cover flights or petrol, and food while up there for a few days. Bean has been battling this for a year now and the chance that this treatment could help would be life changing. It affects her everyday, limiting her activities and time with her son too. She was in the hospital for 6 weeks and has been in and out of the drs with multiple appointments weekly. Anything you can give would be appreciated. Bean has a full time carer most of the time and this is a chance at regaining independence.
A bit about her condition.....
Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a disorder of the functioning of the nervous system. In other words, there is a problem with the software of the nervous system. FND causes various neurological symptoms that are not explained by another neurological or medical condition. FND symptoms can appear suddenly and progress quickly, or they can fluctuate. People with FND often have more than one symptom. Movement symptoms can include abnormal movements, problems with balance, walking, swallowing, seizures and paralysis. Symptoms that affect the senses can include numbness and issues with hearing and vision. FND also can affect memory and thinking.
