Get Bopha's daughter back to school

  • A message of thanks from Bopha to everyone who supported him

    Dear beloved friends,

    I have received the funds raised by all of you to help support me with putting my children into a good school.

    My daughter, Lyheng, has begun attending and is enjoying it very much. She is excited to start her next class at ACE in September. Classes last for 1.5 hours per day and she has homework to complete.

    She started at a higher level than we had expected due to having made good progress with her previous studies. One term (75 hours) costs $260 USD and she attends five days each week.

    My son, Manrong, started in June and his classes are also 1.5 hours daily. One term (75 hours) costs $250 USD. Thank you so much to Mike Evans for sponsoring Manrong. It will change his life and ours forever.

    On behalf of my kids I would like to say billion thank you to all friends from over the world that you always showed love and helped me in the hard times. I am super appreciative for your kindness and support. You have helped ensure a better future for my family.

    Also a big big huge thanks to Mike Evans for his generous sponsorship of Manrong. He is super-happy that he too has chance to start English classes.

  • We did it!

    Thank you everyone!

    You’ve contributed to what has been another inspiring group effort to support our friend, Bopha.

    Many of us pulled together to help save the family home in 2020 and we’ve done it again in 2022 to ensure the children can get the best possible opportunities in the years ahead.

    I have personally found these groups efforts to be very rewarding to be a part of and I know many of you have been following our progress over the past few weeks too.

    We are helping lift up a good man and someone who I know will be forever grateful to his friends across the world. His heart is with his community and his family will no-doubt continue to help others however possible and I know that Lyheng already has aspirations to teach English to members of her community.

    The campaign has come to a close and has raised a total of NZD $5,055.

    There will be some hosting fees to pay the platform and some cost involved with making the bank transfer, however, many of us added the hosting fee to our donation so that it would be taken care of. Again, thank you for this.

    We’ve also seen an individual donor come forward with a generous offer to sponsor Bopha’s son, Manrong, to attend ACE as well. Thanks again, Mike. What a difference you will make for the young man.

    More great news is that Bopha was offered a sudden opportunity to take some tours on a short-term contract. This will help provide some income for the family while they wait and hope for a long-term engagement. He has gone away for his first tour and may not be able to communicate with us for a few weeks.

    It has been wonderful to share and contribute to this fundraising effort with you all. Thank you for trusting me to manage this and your donations on behalf of Bopha’s global network of friends.

    It is worth noting too that the campaign received some very generous donations from people who don’t actually know Bopha personally but were inspired by his story and our efforts as a group. I found these instances extremely heart warming.

    I will keep our Facebook group open for now and at least until Bopha can respond. I know he will want to thank you himself.

  • There is still time to make a donation.

    We are so excited to report that we raised enough for Bopha's eldest daughter, Lyheng, to attend ACE. Some of Bopha's other friends intend to donate soon so we have increased the target by $1k to enable any final donations before the campaign's end date. Any additional funds raised will go toward school fees for Lyheng's brother or younger sister.
