Give the gift of Theatre this Christmas, to a child who might never have the opportunity...

Kia ora whanau,

Next year, Kerikeri Theatre Company is bringing C.S Lewis' all time classic, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe to Kerikeri and Whangarei. This is an undertaking of epic proportions with a cast & crew of nearly 100 practitioners - and we are so excited to offer Primary and Intermediate school students the opportunity to attend the show for only $10.00. This is a massive discount from the otherwise $25.00 student price, and barely makes the production affordable for us - but we are a charity too and we really want children to have this magical opportunity of seeing high-end theatre of a very special story, because events like these don't happen very often in the Far North - let alone made available to children from rural Far North communities.

But outside of our little Kerikeri oasis, if you dare to look, there are hundreds of families who can't spare a simple $10.00. I visited several Far North, low-decile schools last week and saw first-hand, the very sad look in the Principals' eyes - they are desperate for their children to have these opportunities, but at $10.00 per head, it is never going to happen. Families in our Far North communities are struggling, and who can afford $10.00 for a theatre experience when it is near impossible to put food on the table? It made me so sad. Because it means that there are hundreds of beautiful children who miss out - And we are desperate for these children NOT to miss out. They deserve to let their imaginations fly in a magical world of excitement, as much as any other child. In fact, these are usually the children who need it most.

So we are appealing to you, our kind, loving and generous community to make an offering of just $10.00 to sponsor 1 child to attend this magical experience, and let's see if we can't fill our 340-seat auditorium - perhaps even more than once. Of course, if you are an individual or a business who would like to offer more sponsorship, we will humbly feature you and your kind gesture in our marketing campaign.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of several Far North schools and their children who will be able to look forward to a very exciting outing in August 2020. Perhaps the only one they will ever have of its kind.

Arohanui,

Janna Sicely

Thank you Spooner Architectural Services!  13 December 2019

It takes a community...AGAIN!!

17 days ago, I started this givealittle initiative, because as we all know, there are hundreds of families in rural, Far North communities who are struggling to put food on the table.

Next year, KTC is bringing The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to the stage, a story that every child should experience. It rested heavily upon my shoulders that even with a largely discounted ticket price, so many Principals were unable to even consider bringing their children to see it, because when it is a struggle to feed our children, who can afford a trip to the theatre? So I asked our community to donate $10 to sponsor a child to help to enable these schools to come and experience the magic.

Mr Paul Spooner from Spooner Architects got wind of this initiative, and has donated a massive $1,700.00 to the cause! This will enable not one, not two, but THREE ENTIRE SCHOOLS to come to our show! 170 children!!

Thank you so much Spooner Architects for your incredibly generous donation. You have made my, and 170 children's hearts sing.

With so much gratitude,

Janna
