Thank you friends, family and New Zealand. There are no more words left just oceans of grief for now.

Woogie was diagnosed with cancer after having her Spleen removed last Monday the 8th of August. With treatment we can ensure the rest of Woogie's life with us is the best of her life. Woogie has been a faithful Service Dog going above and beyond for not only her boy but her family and their friends and her community.
I was able to bring Woogie into New Zealand in 2008. Woogie was one of the 3 very first Autism Assistance Dogs in our country and from their arrival a local Trust was established which formed the basis of what is now Assistance Dogs New Zealand. This Trust was formed ensuring other New Zealanders did not have to go through the lengthy trials the original families did to apply for and obtain an invaluable Service Dog for their family members. While Woogie was trained specifically for my son's needs when he was 5, she has trained herself for every new development that has presented over the past 8 years. She is his best friend, his unconditionally loving, patient, loyal companion, his courage in new situations, his bravery with new specialist and treatments, his link to his community and his cuddle buddy in the emotional trials of childhood and the rocky teen years. Woogie is a cherished family member, we don't see her as a pet or "the dog" she is with us wherever we go, she is caring and compassionate to all she meets often sensing anxiety and sadness and attending to those people. She has volunteered at McKenzie Center one morning a week with other special needs children, she is now a valued member of a Pastoral Care team at our church. But most of all she is the center of the family, the rock in the crazy world we live in, our Angel in a fur coat. We owe her the best we can give for how ever long that may be. I was able to secure a $7000.00 loan to cover the CT scan, Surgery and Hospitalization in Auckland, however I have exhausted my limited budget and we have $3626.33 in to total owing to our family Vet, Vet Ora Glenview. Our Vet is amazing, they have sponsored Woogies Insurance costs and helped gain sponsorship for her special diet requirements prior to surgery. They have been like family during this journey and gone above and beyond with their care and assistance. I have an AP set up to pay what I can weekly on top of the loan payments for the Auckland Vet.
Day 61 - Heaven just got a little brighter 8 October 2016
Our Journey with Woogie came to a peaceful end on Friday October 7th at 2 pm.
Surrounded by her closest loved ones, her sister Maddie and resting in the arms of her beloved boy, Woogie was assisted in letting go and passed away gently and gracefully.
Thank you to everyone who witnessed and supported our journey.
There are no more words.
Blessings Sonya
