This page has been created to help ease the financial burden on Graeme and Heather while Graeme undergoes cancer treatment.

Taranaki

Many people in New Plymouth may know Graeme Plowright whether through his love of cars or maybe through his truck driving career, New Plymouth born and bred Graeme is always the one smiling and giving the biggest waves from his truck or flashing the lights to say hello no matter how busy he is. Graeme is happily married to Heather and they have 3 children together.

In the last couple of weeks Graeme has been given a devastating Cancer diagnosis, understandably this is a huge shock to the family; due to the nature of where the cancer is located Doctors are unable to just 'cut it out'.

Graeme, starting this coming week has to have several procedures done before he is able to undertake radiation and then chemotherapy down in Palmerston North.

This page has been created to help Graeme and Heather financially as Graeme's sick and annual leave balances are no where near enough to cover their financial commitments due to the amount of time Graeme will be unable to work, the length of the treatment process as well as the costs associated with having to travel and pay their mortgage.

Graeme and Heather are proud and private people who don't like to ask for help, it has taken me abit to convince them to let me create this page for them, they are extremely appreciative to everyone that may donate no matter how big or small to help them through this tough time ahead as right now it is unknown what the outcome may be.

Cindy James' involvement (page creator)

I have been a friend of Graeme and Heathers for over 20 years, given the situation I wanted to create this page to try and remove some of the financial burden they are about to face in the coming months with Graeme not able to work as he is the income provider for their family.

Use of funds

Any money raised will go towards travel costs to and from Palmerston North and wherever else required, mortgage payments, accommodation costs in Palmerston North for Heather and their children, any other associated costs to do with Graeme's treatment.

I thought it was about time I did another update as the page is still open for donations.

Graeme is doing well…. Heather tells me his scans are all looking really good, I don’t want to say his cancer is ‘gone’ incase it rears its ugly head again but as I said things are looking good, which is such a relief for so many of us.

We took some big firewood rounds to Graeme and Heathers place the other week and it was pretty awesome to have him out there helping us unload it although Heather said he will probably need a big rest afterwards, but he looks a hell of a lot better than he did 6 months ago.

Graeme messaged me the other day to say he got his PEG (feeding device that goes straight into his stomach) taken out and that he had eaten his first ‘egg’ via his mouth not the PEG and is using a fork and knife again…. no spoon ! it sure is the little things in life we take for granted.

It is hoped that Graeme can return to work within the next 6 months which is pretty awesome for him to have that on the horizon and a small step to getting back to normality – Heather might get some piece and quiet !!!

I just must again before I sing off say thank you to everyone for their donations and support to Graeme, Heather and kids.
