Waikato
We have received two cash donations already
Marin Reedy donated $50.00
as did David and Dana Paitai with another $50.00
Their have been many offers flooding in from our community members and we would love to say yes but sadly we have no supplies to offer our volunteers at present but once the money/supplies come in the please feel free to pop on in and join the fun maybe even learn something new, either way their is a great vibe in our wharenui.
All donations will be used for the supplies and materials needed for this project. NO wages will be paid from your donation. All labor and time for these jobs have/will be donated.
Supplies such as boiled linseed oil, linseed oil is slow drying liquid with good preservative properties for our whakairo and tahuhu, also horse hair brushes , the soft hairs flexibility and strength give the artist the best control, for the tahuhu we will need to hire a mobile scaffolding tower and a 10 - 15 cfm 110 psi single phase electric compressor for cleaning and maintenance, Rit dyes are the non toxic way to bring color back into our tukutuku, if there is any damaged panels they may need timber slats, paints. The windows without stained glass will need to be tinted as the UV from the harsh Kennedy Bay sun is the biggest cause of exposed wood damage and color fade, The stained glass windows also need some TLC they have chips and cracks which can make our wharenui very cold, the perspex needs to be removed for our our whakapapa wall to be fixed, we would also like to purchase extendable brooms and dusters for cleaning the spider web and fly poos from the ceiling, the mahau is in dyer need of a repaint this will need paints, hard wearing varnish + stains.
