Helen's dream for her tiny house has been ripped from her. Her savings taken by a serial, convicted fraudster. Help get her dreams back

Auckland

Helen invested her savings, over $33,000,with a company that turned out to be operated by a serial, convicted fraudster. She now has no savings and no house.

In January of this year Helen signed a contract with Duro to fulfil a dream of owning a tiny house. It was supposed to arrive on 31 March but instead all of her money is gone, as is her dream of home ownership.

Based in South Auckland, Helen is a passionate and gifted early childhood educator. After spending the past 8 years at Pukekohe High School Childcare Centre, in January of this year she started working on another dream of hers, her own business, as an early childhood education consultant.

With Auckland's housing crisis, tiny houses are one way that people can get on the property ladder and have their own space to call their own. That this man has taken this away from so many people and from Helen is despicable.

With her savings gone and a new business this must be a very stressful time for Helen. As a hard worker, someone who chases her dreams and also as someone who gives so generously to others and is filled with kindness and love, it is heartbreaking that she is in this situation.

Darsel Keane's involvement (page creator)

I am involved as we were one of the lucky parents to have Helen looking after our little girl. As a working parents, you stress and worry about who is looking after your babies. Helen was amazing. Niamh absolutely loved her. Her approach, wisdom and gift made us better parents. We are no longer in the area but I can still contact Helen for help and support and ideas on where to find other carers like her for our children. When we heard of her plight we wanted to help repay some of the kindness that she showed us as a family.

Use of funds

The funds are to be used in any way that Helen chooses. They are being raised to help alleviate some of the stress and financial pressure she is facing due to this situation.
