Help baby Vena from Fiji to have her heart surgery in NZ.

$10,934 donated
Given by 119 generous donors in 8 weeks

The main reason of this fundraising activity is to get Vena, her twin sister and both their parents to NZ so she can get her surgery ASAP.

Auckland

Baby # 2 - Venaisi Tinai FAITH Coriakula was prematurely born together with her twin sister Baby # 1 - Melaia HOPE Coriakula on 15.01.2021 at the CWM Hospital in Suva, Fiji. After their births, Mela only had issues with her weight (1.2kg) being lower than a normal baby's weight which she has now gained whilst waiting for her twin sister at the hospital.

Baby Vena has a complication with her heart known as PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus). It is actually a type of heart problem that happens soon after birth for some babies, especially preterm babies like Vena and Mela. Intially the doctors only knew that she had PDA and were waiting for it close up after a few days. Last week they did a few more tests on Vena and they have now discovered that she also has another hole within her heart apart from the PDA known in medical term as ASD (Atrial Septal Defect). The local doctors in Fiji immediately contacted the specialist doctors at the Children's Starship Hospital in Auckland and they have advised Vena's parent's that Baby Vena will need to be flown over to NZ in order to have her surgery done as soon as possible. Baby Vena's father is my younger brother and they have no other ways of getting the huge amount of $50,000.00 NZD so they have asked me since I live and work here in NZ, if I can help them so they can get their daughter to have her surgery done here as soon as possible. It is really heart breaking for us as a family to see our little niece who know nothing at all fighting for her life day in day out with all sorts of medication she has to take in order to keep her heart going. Baby Vena started off with almost a month on the oxygen machine to help with her breathing which was just removed last week. She currently eats with the help of a tube which takes the milk direct to her stomach so as to reduce the work rate of her heart.

Vena's dad is the sole bread winner in their family and they also have an elder brother (Year 2) and an elder sister (Year 4). Vena's dad is currently looking after their 2 older siblings as they await the doctors advise in the hospital. I would like to kindly request any donation so that we can get Vena across to NZ for her operation within the next 3 - 4 weeks as advised by the doctors. With your kind donations, we believe that we can all help in sending Vena by FAITH in our God for a smooth operation and Mela will be lighting up their beacon of HOPE as they travel together to the Land of the Long White Clouds.❤🙏... This latest recommendation from the NZ Health Services for both the twins to travel together with both parents is of course the best decision as they both need to be close together and also to their mother.

Your kind assistance and donations will be much appreciated as it will help in their flights, travel expenses, operation costs and also living expenses during their 3-6months review in Auckland. We do pray that our loving God will richly bless everyone willing to help Vena, her twin sister and also their parents medical trip to NZ, so she can also enjoy life with her family especially her twin sister. 🙏🙏🙏🥰😍💚❤💖💗💞

Tomasi Coriakula's involvement (page creator)

Vena is my younger brother's daughter and they have asked me if I can start a fundraiser to help them with the cost of sending their daughter to NZ to undergo surgery. My brother works in Fiji but he doesn't have any health insurance policy.

Use of funds

The funds will be used totally on travel expenses and surgery operation costs which will definitely be more than $50K.

APPRECIATION FOR YOUR KIND DONATIONS - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!  15 August 2021

Hi everyone,

I hope all is well at your end and we thank the Lord for His never ending love, guidance and providence in our lives.

On behalf of Baby Vena and her family, I would like to take this opportunity to say a big "Vinaka Vakalevu" which means Thank You Very Much (in Fijian) for all your kind contribution and donations in helping baby Vena Faith Coriakula during her open heart surgery at the Starship Hospital in Auckland.

We do appreciate all your kind financial assistance, well wishes and prayers which enabled Baby Vena to be flown over from Fiji with her twin sister (Mela Hope Coriakula) and both their parents on 26.03.2021. All your donations meant alot to them and has been very well utilized whilst they were in Auckland during her operation and recovery period.

Vena had a successful open heart surgery within a week of their arrival and she has now fully recovered with good health. Today also marks the 7 months of their arrival into our family and we are so blessed to have them.

God is so good and He can even open doors of opportunity no one can ever shut, especially during this difficult time when borders were shut.

"The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." - Prov. 16: 9.

The good news is that now their dad has managed to secure a job offer and after weeks of waiting for the New Zealand Immigration, we are so glad to inform that they now have a 3 year Work Visa. This means that Baby Vena and Mela will now live in Auckland with their parents and should be able to access good health services whenever they need to. Now we look forward to get them settle down and also get their older siblings (Rosi and Tony) immigration paperwork so they can also join them in the near future.

We also would like to give our special thanks to all the families and friends up in Auckland for accommodating and taking good care of Vena and Mela on our behalf as they get settled into the Auckland Big City life. Vinaka vakalevu na loloma.

Once again we as a family, would like to thank each and everyone who has donated, wished them good luck, accommodated them and prayed for them during the last couple of months. We are all humbled and grateful for your contributions and we do agree that if it weren't for your kind donations, they wouldn't have made it this far. So once again from the bottom of our hearts, we thank each and everyone for sharing the love to Baby Vena and her family.

We do pray that the Almighty God will bless you all abundantly, multiply your wealth and give you all good health so you can keep sharing the love.

Warm regards and best wishes from the Coriakula family.
