Help Carys run an Ultramarathon to get to London to perform at *the* Globe

For several years it has been Carys' goal to represent New Zealand as a member of the Shakespeare Globe Company New Zealand's Young Shakespeare Company. Late last year she was awarded that opportunity and selected as part of a small group of young people to go to London and perform at the Globe in 2025.

The selection process included years of participation and refining her skill, in each year she has been selected at regionals and performed at the national competition. In 2022 she performed a scene from the Taming of the Shrew. In 2023 she performed as Lady Macbeth in a compilation centring her descent into madness. In 2024 she performed as Desdemona showing how Othello manipulated her into doubting herself. This last performance secured her a place at a week long intensive in Dunedin with many other students and then selected from that group to be part of the Young Shakespeare Company.

To get to London Carys needs your help to raise funds ($11,100) to pay for her accommodation, flights, and expert tuition from Tutors and Directors at Shakespeares Globe. And just quietly, she would love your help to do this without draining the bank of Mum & Dad.

So she's going to run an ultramarathon (sort of!). An ultra means 50km at least, last year she ran a half marathon. Here's how she will do it:

- Round the Bays, 8.4km, March 2

- Hamilton Half Marathon, 21km, March 16

- Huntly Half Marathon, 21km, May 18

And that adds up to 50.4km! An ultramarathon ;)
