Fundraiser to help Casper fence at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in London
Wellington
Hi everyone! I'm Casper, a sabre fencer from New Zealand, currently ranked #1 in the country! I've managed to qualify to represent New Zealand at this year's Commonwealth Fencing Championships in London, England, to be held on the 10th of August. I began fencing 12 years ago, when I was a young child, and this will be my first major international competition after multiple years of competing on the New Zealand circuit.
I am immensely proud to be able to represent New Zealand at this level of the sport, but I will need your help.
As a smaller sport, international fencing is entirely self-funded - I estimate that it will cost around 8,000 dollars all up to compete this year in London. It is not often that New Zealand gets the chance to field teams for international fencing competitions for this reason; the Commonwealth Championship is a hugely important international competition, only held once every four years; it is an event which, if New Zealand's best fencers attend, we have the potential to do quite well at. This is why I am asking for your help, to help make a New Zealand team happen!
