$30,822 of $40,000 goal

Clare has Stage 3 Vulvar Cancer. She needs a private unfunded drug to help try and beat it as well as all our love and support.

Auckland

Mum (Clare) has always been full of smiles, laughter and positivity in our family. Mum is continuously putting other people before her and wanting the best for everyone.

Mrs Powell to her children at Northcote Primary School, Mum has loved teaching at Northcote Primary and misses it endlessly. Northcote have been amazing with supporting mum, from other teachers, colleagues, teacher aides and parents.

As you may be aware at the beginning of 2020 as a family we were shocked with the news that Mum had been diagnosed with Stage 3 Vulvar Cancer. We were all saddened with the news, but knew we all had to be strong and positive for Mum and support her and our family through this new battle.

Mum so far has received; 1 surgery, 2 rounds of radiation and chemotherapy and is currently undergoing a final round of chemotherapy, all of which she has continued to smile, laugh and stay positive throughout.

After this last round of chemotherapy Mum has been given the option of undergoing private treatment which is not PHARMAC funded - Keytruda (Pembrolizumab). The cost of private treatment and private drug that mum is going to have will come to roughly $40,000. Mum will be having 4 cycles of Keytruda, each costing roughly $8000 on top of consultation fees.

An amazing Mum to Tom, Harry and myself and a loving wife to Rich who has stood by her side through everything, Mum has always been an inspiration to us all. With Tom and I living overseas, as well as Clare's immediate family in the UK, any money will also be helped towards getting the family all together and back to NZ, as well as spending quality time and making memories with family.

We would really appreciate any help - anything as little as $1 will be greatly appreciated, we want nothing more than Mum to be healthy and have the best chance at beating this disease! In true Powell family spirits we believe anything is possible.

The Amazing Clare   27 December 2020

On the 23rd of December we said goodnight to our positive, loving, bubbly and gorgeous Clare. Her infectious laugh and personality along with her gorgeous smile will be missed hugely, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Clares life will be held at 12.30pm on Wednesday 6th of January, at Dil’s Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Road, Albany. Clares family would love for everyone to join them to say farewell in person, however given the time of Year and with large amounts of family overseas, we appreciate that this may not be possible for everyone. If you would like to watch via webcast please contact Georgia on georgiapowell2996@gmail.com or 0210471245.
