Eli has a wheelchair that he cannot use at home as it is not wheelchair accessible. Please help his parents change this.
Canterbury
It has been a difficult year for 7 year old Eli Findlay and his family. Eli has spina bifida and in the past seven months has been admitted to hospital on seven occasions, five of them being for some sort of surgery.
Adele (Eli's Mum) has spent just over three months in total in hospital caring for Eli while Paul (Eli's Dad) has continued to work through all of this. Adele and Paul have had to pay for childcare during these hospital stays, which was an unexpected expense.
The family need to renovate their home as it is currently not wheelchair accessible and to get around the house Eli currently has to crawl. Eli's surgeons have emphasized that without change to how he gets around (i.e without being able to use his wheelchair at home) he will need more surgery, possibly as soon as next year. We want to help raise money to help recover their unexpected financial loss that they have incurred from paying for childcare (for Eli's siblings while Adele was in hospital with him), as well as the extra travel costs to and from hospital. This is so they can be in the position they need to be in to renovate, so Eli can move freely in his wheelchair at home.
Please help this family help their son.
Eli is the son of a very close friend of mine. The whole family has had a very rough year with Eli having several surgeries in the past 7 months
Funds raised will cover the costs of council consent for the renovations. Any extra money raised will be spent on small things on the renovations to make life a bit more comfortable for Eli.
