Help this young family get a solid family car and plane tickets for siblings to get to see very ill Mum
Auckland
Minneke Writes:
My Mum has just been diagnosed with very aggressive brain cancer. She doesn't have much longer, and many friends have expressed their desire to help us from overseas.
I thought I might share a little bit of background to the situation here so that it makes a bit more sense and we can be honest and open with anyone who would like to help Mum out. Last summer she came to visit my husband and I ,in China to let us know that there had been alarming things in the news about the political situation there. It would become dangerous for our family to stay in China. I was also pregnant with our third child, but we decided to make the move right away for our family's safety. My husband's visa got delayed and so we had to wait until after the baby came to move. It was a very tense and stressful 6 months as we saw things changing rapidly, and we weren't sure my husband would be allowed out of the country. Thankfully, we made it out, but we have moved here with not much except a couple suitcases.
Mum has/had taken it upon herself to help us settle out here and support us financially (they are listed as our financial sponsors in my husband's visa paperwork), until we could get on our feet, and buying a second-hand car that could fit all three of our kids car seats in it was a priority.
However, they knew they would probably have to wait for their house in Australia to sell (she renovated it and put it on the market single-handedly! So typical of my Mum...), which it hasn't yet.
One of her big wishes is to have us set up here so that we can be independent and she feels released of the burden to support us before she goes, and the biggest financial burden she feels right now is to help us with a car so we can be mobile. My husband is hoping to get a job soon but as he can't drive yet, I will need to transport him (probably with the kids in tow) until he can eventually transport himself. Also, I will be the main person to transport my Mum to hospital/doctors for her therapies.
Helping us to get a vehicle is really helping my Mum to be released from her stress and be at ease about us settling here. It is one of her big wishes before she goes. Thank you so much to all that have already reached out to us (both friends and family) to help us in this difficult time, even donating their air miles so that my brother and sister could be here with Mum.
I am a friend (one of many)of the family here in the USA. I have seen this sad story unfold with a heavy heart. Even though oceans separate us,I would love to help my friends practically beyond thoughts and prayers. It would also be a place for others to help support this family in their time of trouble and help them in a tangible way.
Car for this family(must be able to fit 3 car seats).
Plane tickets back to the USA from Auckland for 2 siblings (they have airmiles to get them to NZ from the USA in the first place to see their very ill Mum).
Thank-you for the generous contributions . 11 May 2019
As most of you know, Linda Van Noordt has passed on but due to the amazing outpouring of love and contributions, she was able to spend the last of her days on this earth surrounded by family and friends here in NZ. Minnie and her husband were able to buy a lovely big car that is able to fit all the kiddos and then some. So as we end this Fundraiser, thank you again for making all this possible and a special thanks to Givealittle. You Guys Rock!
