Jillie needs fast access to treatment for aggressive, stage 4 cancer; your support can help make that possible.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Our dear friend Jillie has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive stage 4 cancer.
Jillie is someone who brings people together. She shares her singing, her humour, and her warmth freely, and the communities she is part of benefit enormously from her generosity and spirit.
We all want to continue to sing and laugh with Jillie for as long as possible.
While this cancer is aggressive, there is hope. Chemotherapy is often more effective with fast-growing cancers, and starting treatment quickly offers the best chance of improving both quality of life and longevity.
Due to long wait lists, it may take up to 10 weeks to see a medical oncologist through the public system, with further delays before treatment could begin — a serious concern with an aggressive cancer.
To give Jillie the best possible chance, she needs to access private oncology care immediately, so treatment can start without delay. This is only possible if the funding for treatment can be secured quickly.
Treatment may disrupt her ability to work at times, adding further pressure at an already overwhelming time.
We’ve created this Givealittle page so Jillie can access early treatment and focus on her health and wellbeing, without the added stress of financial uncertainty.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is another powerful way to help.
Funds will be paid to Hayley Toogood, Jillie's daughter who is assisting Jillie at this time.
Thank you for supporting Jillie.
I am a friend of 10 years wanting to rally support for someone who gives a lot to others. It is very difficult to ask others for help directly and this is the least I can do for my dear friend - many others feel the same way.

Fundraising Concert - A Wave of Aroha 28 January 2026
We’re excited to share details of an upcoming event supporting Jillie — and we’d love you to come if you can.
A Wave of Aroha - A concert of heart and art, is a relaxed, arts-led afternoon concert taking place on Saturday 22 February, 3.00–5.30pm, at Mt Vernon Lodge in Akaroa. Set on the lawn overlooking Akaroa Harbour, the afternoon will feature live music by Lisa Tui and Gary Easterbook, shared food, BYO drinks, and time to connect in a beautiful setting.
Alongside the concert, we’ll be hosting a silent auction featuring generously donated artworks, experiences and other creative offerings. Each item has been gifted and reflects the themes of aroha, creativity, and connection. Bidding will take place in person at the event, with all proceeds going toward supporting Jillie.
