We’re excited to share details of an upcoming event supporting Jillie — and we’d love you to come if you can.

A Wave of Aroha - A concert of heart and art, is a relaxed, arts-led afternoon concert taking place on Saturday 22 February, 3.00–5.30pm, at Mt Vernon Lodge in Akaroa. Set on the lawn overlooking Akaroa Harbour, the afternoon will feature live music by Lisa Tui and Gary Easterbook, shared food, BYO drinks, and time to connect in a beautiful setting.

Alongside the concert, we’ll be hosting a silent auction featuring generously donated artworks, experiences and other creative offerings. Each item has been gifted and reflects the themes of aroha, creativity, and connection. Bidding will take place in person at the event, with all proceeds going toward supporting Jillie.

Whether you’re able to attend the concert, bid on an auction item, or share the event with others, your support is warmly appreciated. This is a chance to come together as a community — to enjoy something uplifting and to continue supporting Jillie in a meaningful way.

We hope to see you there.

  • Funds update

      27 January 2026

Thanks to the incredible generosity shown so far, the funds raised have enabled Jillie to access time-critical chemotherapy through the private system, which has already begun. This support made an immediate and very real difference.

While dates within the public system are still being confirmed, we have been advised that Jillie’s chemotherapy will be covered by the public health system over the next few weeks. Definately by round 3. For this reason, we have removed the original $75,000 fundraising goal.

We are keeping the Givealittle page open, as there are ongoing health-related costs and Jillie’s income will be significantly impacted for some time while she focuses on treatment and recovery. Any continued support will help ease this wider financial pressure and allow Jillie to focus on her health.

Thank you again for the care, kindness, and generosity that have carried Jillie to this point — it has truly mattered.

  • First Chemo session completed

      26 January 2026

Thanks to your generosity, Jillie has had her first chemo treatment through the private system on Friday last week.

It was a 5 hour day with 3.5 hours receiving chemo so a pretty big day. It's been a tough few days for her and she's exhausted but is doing as well as can be expected.

Hayley, her daughter, has been amazing support for her. Jillie also enjoyed seeing her son Matt and his family who flew down from Auckland to visit before her chemo.

I am very pleased to let you know that we have raised enough money to pay for the chemo and treatments prior to the public system kicking her. She's awaiting the date for this but it will definitely be there for her third session. Thank you sooo much!!

There are still many more expenses to support Jillie so we will still go ahead with the concert which will be a great event. I hope you can all make it! Details coming soon!!

  • Chemo date confirmed

      16 January 2026

Kia ora, Thanks so much for your kindness and donations - both from people that know and love Jillie as well as complete strangers. Every bit helps. Thank you.

As a result of your kindness, Jillie's first chemotherapy session is booked for next week. It will be a difficult day so please send good vibes all week!

The public system has now set a date to see the oncologist. After this appointment, it will still be several weeks before the chemo kicks in through this system. So we anticipate needing 3 rounds through the private system before public kicks in.

The upcoming fundraising concerts will hopefully top us up enough for all three sessions! Such a great effort from everyone. Thank you.

    Fundraising concert - Lisa Tui:

Keep February 22 free and all details will be posted over the next couple of days.

    Cheers

    Jo
