Help kiwi's thrive by funding two six seater utility vehicles
Waikato
Whoop whoop it's Kiwi Season!! Over the last few years we have smashed our goals of growing a thriving kiwi population and more than 2500 kiwi residing at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari... as a consequence we, alongside our partners Save the Kiwi, are now focussed on phase 2, seeing kiwi spread to other conservation projects with the goal of saving the species and one day having kiwi heard in backyards across the country (now read that again whilst you visualise us wearing a superman style cape).
Over the last two years we have gifted 333 kiwi to other conservation projects on the North Island, it's a huge logistical and financial challenge. We need to be efficient to maximise bird well-being, to be safe to ensure human and bird health and to minimise cost, consequently we are on the hunt for two six-seater utility vehicles. These vehicles will be used to convey conservation dog teams into the sanctuary to muster kiwis, then transport them out of the sanctuary for health checks and translocation across the North Island.
Ours is a gnarly environment and the safety of our team is critical, help kiwis thrive by giving a little or a lot towards keeping both humans and birds safe.
We are Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, New Zealand's largest and most incredible fenced eco-sanctuary located in the heart of the mighty Waikato. Home to some of Aotearoa's most endangered species including Kakapo, Tuatara, Takahe to name just a few.
Located in the heart of the mighty Waikato Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari is New Zealand's largest predator fenced eco-sanctuary. Home to 2500 kiwi and many other of New Zealand's most endangered plant and animal species including kakapo and tuatara.
We aim to purchase two six seater all-terrian vehicles. If we don't raise the full amount, all money will be left in the Trust's tagged funding bank account until we have the total amount to purchase the two vehicles..
Thank you so much Sarah!
