Baskets of Blessing proudly presents Let's Eat!

We have all been through times where life has been hard. For whatever reason. Getting a healthy meal on the table is a real challenge during those times. Losing a loved one. Going through divorce. Having a child with an illness. Miscarrying. Losing your job.

Let's Eat! provides practical help in the form of nutritious and delicious frozen meals to those who need the most.

Our goals are threefold:

1. Using surplus food that would otherwise be discarded

2. Bringing people together

3. Feeding the community

Let's Eat! is part of Baskets of Blessing: a charity in the form of a Queenstown community group that provides practical support and gifts of love for individuals and families going through difficult times. It was founded by Tam Schurman, who suffered a tragedy of her own ten years ago when her mother suffered brain cancer. A stranger gifted Tam Schurmann a basket of goodies and the love behind the gift had a "huge impact" on her.

Let's Eat! and Baskets of Blessing work together to:

• Help people recover from illness and trauma quicker

• Reduce food waste and provide families with nutritious meals

• Improve mental health: giving volunteers a sense of purpose & belonging and meal recipients the knowledge that others care & practical support to help them through.

• Reduce family stress

• Build empathy and kindness

• Bring people together to form friendships and build a strong, supportive community

Let’s Eat! will only be sustainable if we can get the funds to keep the project running. We are fundraising to purchase a freezer trailer, chest freezers, food packaging. In addition to that, there are operational costs such as food items that we need, fuel for distribution, power for the freezers etc etc.

Please help us build a community with a heart. Where people are fed in times of needs, where we look out for each other and where we connect.

Every dollar counts, so please donate and help us to keep the project going strong!

During the month of July, everyone who donates goes in the draw to win a restaurant voucher!
