Thank you for stopping by :)

My name is Kalenita Palu and I was born in the island of Tonga. I have just recently moved here to New Zealand back in 2014, I also spend my senior years at my local high school Mangere College. After graduating i decided to choose this pathway Veterinary Nursing because growing up in Tonga i had lots of animal which i and my family kept at the time. Looking back now i can tell that was the foundation and inspiration of why i wanted to do this course especially being a part of this trip. The love of animal and not only that in Tonga the animal welfare industry and veterinary care is to be honest not that profesionally developed. I'm really grateful for the SPAW (South Pacific Animal Welfare Group) which is consist of different team of Veterinary Nurse and Vets from here in New Zealand that always take their time to fly out to the island 4 times every year to help vaccinate and provide health care to the animals in Tonga. Last year , i was a cattery volunteer part time at the SPCA Mangere and this job really inspired me to go forth and i also went to Vet Nurse Plus to do a New Zealand Certificate in Veterinary Nursing while i was doing the course i was looking to how can i contribute my skills and my knowledge back to the animals at home!!!.

I decided this year 2018 i am going to Unitec Institute of Technology because they offered opportunities where you can study and improve your veterinary nursing skills as well contributing to the community which is through the SPAW trip and thank god for his blessing and guidance !!!!, i was successfully selected to be one of the team member for the SPAW trip in December YAAAAY EXCITING

We will fly there at the end of the year and a veterinary clinic will be set up at Tokomololo one of the village and there will be village visit with the vet with the aim to provide as much health treatment and surgical treatment such as spaying and neutering of animals to help reduce the strays. The animals will also benefit from this trip as i and my team will also provide flea treatments as there is no local veterinary clinic currently.

This trip is no vaccation, We will be on our feet almost 10 hours for 5 days and a half it will be an intense and pressure week but the effort will worth it because at the end of the day i will be improving and also saving the animals life at home.

This trip is very important for me for my course because it really will contribute heaps to my practical skills and applying of the theoretical knowledge i have learned in class and also to pass my Veterinary Nursing course. To apply this skill for the reason HELP the animals with no welfare no freedom in the Kingdom of Tonga is an opportunity once in a lifetime!

Coming back with that experience will definitely boost my confidence and practical skills so i can save more animal lives here in New Zealand !!

Please Help me to fund for my trip.

Thank you kindly
