Help me to achieve my Olympic dream

Hi everyone, my name is Corrie Robinson and I am hoping to represent New Zealand in Badminton at the 2020 Paralympics held in Tokyo. This page has been setup for those who would like to give a little something towards my journey towards qualification.

Despite becoming an amputee at age 1, this has never stopped me from taking part in the sport that I continue to love today. My love for Badminton began at the age of 9, where I had opportunities to represent Waikato in the under 12’s, under 14’s and under16’s age groups in the able-bodied grades. Even with a kidney transplant at the age of 23, I continued to play Badminton and have represented Waikato in the senior division champs in the last few years against other able-bodied players. I love the game because I have never felt excluded, had exceptions made for, or been taken pity upon.

2 years ago, I stumbled on to the stage of Para Badminton, and discovered that I was able to compete with some of the best Para Badminton players in the world. As I went to more and more international events, the 2020 Paralympics became more and more of a possibility as I managed to clinch a few top 16 finishes. To ensure that I am in the best spot to qualify, I need to attend as many international events as possible leading up to the Paralympics and gain as many points as I can prior to qualification. To do so, I need your support to get me to these upcoming events!

Given the limited funding of Badminton in New Zealand, each of these tournaments present a large financial obstacle as each tournament costs approximately $2,000-$4,000. I am thankful for the funding I have received thus far from Badminton New Zealand and Badminton Oceania for each of these tournaments – without their support, I would not have been able to afford any of these tournaments on my own. So please, give as little or as much as you can, every dollar is greatly appreciated, and I hope to do you all proud whenever I put on the Silver Fern.
