Raising funds to help pay for my dad's $80,000 emergency heart surgery after a sudden aortic dissection.
Wellington
Talofa lava,
My dad (Faleupolu Faleupolu Tuiatua) came from Samoa to New Zealand to celebrate my 21st birthday with us. He was only here for three days when he started having strong chest pain. I took him to Kenepuru Hospital, and the doctors said he needed to go to Wellington Hospital straight away.
At Wellington, they did a CT scan and found out my dad had an aortic dissection. This means the big blood vessel from the heart had a tear inside it, and blood was leaking through the layers. It is very dangerous and can take someone’s life fast if they don’t get help.
The doctors said he needed surgery that same night. During the surgery, they also found that one of his heart valves was damaged, so they replaced it with a mechanical (metal) valve to save him. The surgery took 12 hours, and by God’s grace, it was successful.
My dad is not a New Zealand citizen, so he has to pay the full cost of his hospital care. The bill is around $80,000, which is more than our family can handle right now.
I am kindly asking for any support to help us pay my dad's surgery and hospital bills. Any amount will help us a lot. Thank you so much for your support.
All funds will go toward my dad's hospital bill, surgery cost, and follow-up care.
